These silicone casting moulds from Redesign with Prima are also known as "decor moulds".

The figures in the moulds are cut in great detail, allowing you to cast very fine figures and ornaments. Because the moulds are made of flexible silicone rubber, they can be used again and again. Because the moulds are so flexible, you can effortlessly release the cast product once it has hardened.

It is interesting to know that the silicone casting moulds are both cold- and heat-resistant. In addition, they are made of food-safe material, so you can also use them for casting chocolate. However, we recommend keeping the moulds you use in your kitchen separate from those in which you use epoxy or clay. In addition to decorating your baked goods or furniture, you can also use these casting moulds to cast soap. Because the moulds can withstand temperatures of up to 500 degrees Celsius, they are also suitable for ceramic clay.

Below we explain how you can use the silicone casting moulds.

STEP 1

Make sure the moulds are clean and dry before using them. You can spray some WD-40 or rub some oil into the mould to make it easier to remove the applications once they have hardened. Some people also like to sprinkle them with some cornflour.

STEP 2

Pour your product of choice into the mould (epoxy, clay, casting resin,...). Prick any air bubbles with a toothpick.

STEP 3

Let your cast product harden completely, according to the description on the packaging. Remove the figure from the mould once it has completely hardened.

STEP 4

If you want to use the image on a piece of furniture, first make sure that the surface on which you want to apply it is grease-free, dust-free and dry.

Glue the application in place with some wood glue. When you have used epoxy, you can make the cast figure slightly flexible by applying heat with a hairdryer. This way, the application can neatly follow the curves in the furniture.

Place some weight on the applications while the glue dries, or use clamps or tape to ensure that it lies flat against the surface while it dries. Let the glue dry completely.

STEP 5

You can now paint the applications in any colour you like. You can paint them before or after you have glued them to a surface. You can use regular wax to protect the paint and optionally apply some gilding wax for a glamorous look.

And you are ready...!
